Myrddin Rees Davies

Myrddin read music at Oxford University, studying horn with Hugh Seenan and graduating with first class honours. He then studied on the LSO Orchestral Artistry course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with David Pyatt, Richard Bissill, Roger Montgomery, and Chris Parkes. Since 2019, he has been principal horn of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and regularly performs as a freelance musician across Egypt and the middle east. In 2021 he was principal horn of the United Philharmonic Orchestra, which performed for a procession of mummies between museums that was broadcast worldwide. Myrddin is the co-founder of Maadi Maestros, a music centre with the aim of increasing awareness and enjoyment of western classical music across the greater Cairo and Giza areas. In his free time, he enjoys attempting to learn Arabic, playing for the Cairo rugby team, and exploring with his adopted street dog Zatouna.
