Joe Qui

Joe started off his musical life as a guitarist, drummer and recorder player before somehow finding his calling as a bassoonist aged 13. He studied at Guildhall in London before heading to Amsterdam and then The Hague where he eventually completed his Masters degree in 2017.
Since moving back home to South East London he has been lucky enough to make a living playing the bassoon, although during lockdown he’s been loving his new 9-5. He works regularly as a principal bassoon with orchestras including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (trial for Principal 2016-2018), Dunedin Consort, Arcangelo and The English Concert. He is principal bassoon with La Nuova Musica – their recording featuring Handel’s best bassoon moments is coming out in late 2021.
