In 2021 Ben was nominated by the Barbican as a European Concert Hall Organsiation (ECHO) Rising Star, leading to debut recitals at major concert halls across Europe including the Musikverein (Vienna), Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg) and Concertgebouw (Amsterdam).

Recent highlights include his debut with the Mozarteum Orchestra in the Mozartwoche Festival (Salzburg), a concerto recording with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and an invitation by the Guild of Horn Players to record a CD marking Dennis Brain’s 100th Anniversary called ‘Legacy’, including a new commission by Huw Watkins.

A keen advocate for new music, during 2021 Ben premieres new works by Guillem Palomar and Mark Simpson and, as a member of the Pierre Boulez Ensemble, collaborates with François-Xavier-Roth, Zubin Mehta, Lahav Shani and Matthias Pintscher. In 2021 and 2022 he returns as soloist and chamber musician to Wigmore Hall.

At the age of 18 Ben was a Concerto Finalist in the 2016 BBC Young Musician Competition. In 2018 he made his BBC Proms debut, released his first CD to critical acclaim, and was selected as a BBC Music Magazine Rising Star and Gramophone Magazine One to Watch.

Ben has performed widely in Europe appearing as soloist with the Aurora Orchestra, BBC Concert, BBC Symphony, Britten Sinfonia, City of London Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Lucerne Symphony, Manchester Camerata, the Prague Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonie Orchester Berlin.

He has worked as soloist with conductors James Gaffigan, Nicholas Collon, Mark Wigglesworth, Kristiina Poska, Radek Baborak, Andrew Gourlay and Jessica Cottis, and recorded the solo horn call from Wagner’s Siegfried with the Hallé Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder.

A committed chamber musician, Ben has collaborated with Daniel Barenboim, Martha Argerich, Sergei Babyan, Elena Bashkirova, Sunwook Kim and Michael Volle at the Vinterfest (Sweden), the Verbier, Salzburg, Jerusalem, Intonations (Berlin) and Barenboim (Buenos Aires) Festivals, among many others. In 2019 he recorded the world premiere recording of Erika Fox’s Quasi Una Cadenza for NMC records.

In demand as guest principal he has appeared with the Staatskapelle Berlin, West-Eastern Divan, English Chamber and Philharmonia Orchestras.

Born in London, in 2020 Ben completed his studies at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin with Radek Baborák. Prior to this he attended the Royal College of Music Junior Department with Susan Dent. He was a prizewinner at the 2019 Young Classical Artists Trust International Auditions held at Wigmore Hall.

Ben is a patron for the charity Music4People and has given masterclasses at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He is grateful for awards from the Dorothy Croft Trust for Young Musicians, Awards for Young Musicians, June Emerson Wind Music and the EMI Music Sound Foundation.
