Alex Wide started playing the horn aged 7 in Southampton and progressed throughthe city’s music service until he was 16. He then went on to study with Simonde Souza at the Junior Royal Academy of Music for two years. At 18 he gained aplace to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Richard Bissilland Jeff Bryant where he completed both his undergraduate and masters degreeswith First-class Honours. Since graduating Alex has led a successful freelance career working regularly with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and London session orchestras. He is currently on trial for Principal Horn with both the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia. Aside from orchestral playing Alex works in the west end playing on Wicked. Alex is a horn tutor on ‘theBrassAcademy’ and the Britten Sinfonia Academy.
